"I loved this book. Had just enough info about some great road trips and some interesting side notes for some of the destinations. Was well laid out and easy to find places I will be visiting."

Backroads Byways of Colorado Drives Day Trips Weekend Excursions Second Edition Backroads Byways Drea Knufken John Daters 9781581571615 Books Reviews

  • Great book for travel. It's divided by area, listing the estimated length of the byway, estimated travel time, highlights, and how to get there. Once there, lodging, activities, and places to eat are listed. Each area includes maps and color pictures.
  • Nice book to have to read about the area you are traveling too. It has driving routes or multiple day trips that travel all throughout the state. It gives you history and facts about each location and things to do, places to eat and where to stay.
  • Was very handy for our trip to Colorado this summer. Took our motor home towing a trailer. It was very informative where we could drive our 40ft diesel pusher over the passes.
  • The authors did a good job of describing many things to see in Colorado, but the book reads like a travel journal or blog. This makes it easy to write, but hard to extract overview information without plowing into the narration. Some more detailed maps would be a start. There is only one map in the entire book. It is a small map contained on one single page of the entire state of Colorado. It is hard to even tell what drives are where when you see it so zoomed out. Each drive should have a double-page overview map with some sort of cross referencing to the narration. The better travel books I have do this. I would skip this book and check back to see if they have the formating fixed on the second edition.
  • …. and well received!
  • Good instruction
  • Real nice but didn't include the Steamboat Springs area and the extreme northwest. Covers a large part of the state but not all of it. Still a useful book though.
  • I loved this book. Had just enough info about some great road trips and some interesting side notes for some of the destinations. Was well laid out and easy to find places I will be visiting.
