Before We Were Wicked Eric Jerome Dickey Books Reviews

  • I have read all of EJD books numerous times (yes I am that girl) and I don't remember ever disliking a character as much as Jimi Lee. I tried to look at it from her POV but in the end I still felt the same way. I was once Jimi Lee so there were parts of her story I empathized with. She had a plan for her life that got derailed. It happens. I don't think she ever got over it and blamed Ken for it all. Even with my disdain for her, I still loved the book. EJD always gives us in depth background on his characters and their culture that I have learned so much from. Ken gave it his all, tried his best and it wasn't good enough. Now I hope that Ken and his girlfriend are in London living their best lives. Hopefully Margaux visits often with the new baby. Great job EJD...PER USUAL....your biggest fan....Michelle Glass❤
  • Black culture , JimiLee a spoiled and terrified of her parents but wanting to be I dependent. Wanted to experience the erotic side of life got a good taste and three caution in the wind. Ken Swift, also intelligent and dangerous, but honorable, did love Jimi Lee. He married her did the his best to be a husband and a father. Great read. Sooo EJD Marquez up next??????? Soon I hope
  • I liked both books. Loved the romance. It was intense. Was not that crazy about Jimmy Lee turning out to be a slut. Thought she would be a tad bit better than that. Didn't like Lila coming over for left overs. .Would love to have a friend like Jake.
  • now you know this is my fav 2nd author. the book is good
  • I usually like all of Eric Jerome Dickey's books, but this one I can do without. I was eagerly awaiting this one. I found this to be lackluster.
  • I absolutely love Eric Jerome Dickey. He is my favorite author.
  • I’ve been a long time reader of EJD. From Milk in My Coffee all the way up to today. Post-Gideon, I haven’t been in LOVE with his books but I always come back just to see if he’s the EJD of old and lately I’ve been disappointed. This book wasn’t really necessary, but it’s here. The dialogue in this book is so over the top and completely unbelievable between Jimi Lee and Ken Swift. It goes on forever and is so monotonous. Even the sex scenes weren’t that interesting between those two. Ken was acting completely contrary to his character especially when he met Jimi Lee’s family. And what. Like be the most interesting parts of the story we’re only alluded to, which was Ken’s relationship with his family and what happened when they met his new wife. I really felt like this was such a lackluster effort on the part of EJD and there was nothing new, exciting, or titillating about this. I wish he would get back to more realistic dialogue instead of this faux-cerebral foolishness that has been the hallmark of his writing as of late, and compelling sex scenes. I had high hopes of this novel but in the end they fell flat.
  • I bought the audible version. After two hours of the main characters bickering back and forth, I gave up. The story was slow to unfold but I couldn't even care to continue.
